Equipt supplies commercial gym equipment. This guide reflects its supplier perspective.

Compare commercial and light-commercial equipment by checking each exact model against your facility’s intended use, applicable warranty and maintenance requirements. Ask the manufacturer or supplier for written confirmation of suitability before choosing.

Start with your facility brief

Give each supplier the same brief so you can compare its response against the same requirements. Include:

  • Who will use the room, how often and whether sessions will be supervised.
  • Opening hours and expected busy periods, rather than headcount alone.
  • Available space, access for installation and the room’s operating conditions.
  • The exercises and equipment your programme needs.
  • Who will carry out routine checks, arrange servicing and manage faults.

What the labels leave unanswered

Treat “commercial” and “light commercial” as the start of a discussion. A label does not give you the operating instructions, warranty exclusions or service arrangements for the model being quoted. Ask for those documents before deciding whether an option fits your brief.

For example, Precor’s limited standard warranty distinguishes coverage by product line, destination country and commercial or home placement. It directs buyers to the warranty supplied with their product and their local authorised distributor for regional extended coverage. These are Precor terms; request the applicable terms for your proposed model and market.

Compare the evidence for each proposed model

Use the same checks for commercial and light-commercial proposals
CheckWhat to request
Intended useThe exact model reference, its manual and written confirmation that your proposed setting and pattern of use are permitted.
Room and installationModel dimensions, required clearances, installation instructions and any stated limits for the operating environment.
WarrantyThe terms for the exact model and destination market, including eligible use, exclusions and who handles a claim.
Maintenance and supportThe required checks and servicing, the person responsible, and written parts, labour and support arrangements.

A buyer checklist for comparing the written proposals; apply it to both labels.

The Pulse Classic Strength owner’s manual shows why model documents matter: it includes placement and maintenance instructions alongside model dimensions and maximum user loads. Those details belong to the equipment covered by that manual. Request the corresponding manual for every model on your shortlist.

Choose from the written proposals

If an option’s documents exclude your intended use, remove it from the shortlist. If a supplier’s answer is unclear or conflicts with the manual or warranty, resolve that point in writing before ordering. A warranty document is a coverage statement, so check the operating instructions as well.

Where both options meet your brief, compare the complete project scope: equipment, delivery, installation, maintenance, applicable cover and the support you are buying. Ask each supplier to identify exclusions and costs it has left out. That gives you a useful comparison without assuming that one label always means a longer life or a lower operating cost.

Common questions

Can light-commercial equipment be used in a hotel or residential gym?
Check the exact model’s permitted setting, pattern of use and applicable warranty. Describe the facility to the manufacturer or supplier and obtain written confirmation. Building type or apartment count alone should not decide the purchase.
Does a longer warranty tell me how long the equipment will last?
Use the warranty to compare coverage, exclusions and claim responsibilities. Do not treat its duration as a lifespan estimate. For an operating-cost comparison, ask suppliers to state the maintenance, replacement and downtime assumptions behind their figures.
What documents should be included at handover?
Request the model and serial-number record, operating and maintenance instructions, applicable warranty and the contact for service or claims. Agree who will perform the required checks and keep the service records.
